Welcome to Praygein Wrinkles N Skin. We're Terry & Lisa Woodyard, located in South Eastern Iowa. We specialize in HOME RAISED Shar Pei.
We choose to keep our breeding program small and manageable so that we have the peace of mind that ALL are happy, healthy, and receive the attention they deserve, and we can pass the same peace of mind on to you with 10 years of breeding experience and confidence. All of our Pei live in our home as part of the family, they're our beloved pets and live as such. Miniature Shar Pei are our passion NOT our job. We are NOT a kennel. We do how ever use pet crates when necessary so that everybody has their own private place to go.
You are more than welcome to come to our home to meet us and our Pei so you can see for yourself where your baby is being raised, just give us a call so we can work out a time that works for the both of us.
If you choose to purchase a "Praygein" Pei puppy.. Your new puppy will go from our home to yours with a written health guarantee, first shots, well socialized with adult Pei,teen,and toddlers, and every day household noise. We do not sell to brokers or pet shops. ALL of our "pet"(not intended for breeding) puppies are sold on a spay and neuter contract.

ONE OF THE FIRST QUESTIONS I'M OFTEN ASKED IS "HOW DO SHAR PEI DO WITH CHILDREN?" ............
WELL THEY ALWAYS SAY A PHOTO IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS!! THE BOYS IN THE PHOTO ARE OUR TWIN GRANDSONS. THEY LIVE WITH US, AS YOU CAN SEE BY THEIR FACES THEY LOVE UMPA, AND UMPA LOVES THEM AS DO ALL OF OUR PEI ADULTS. THE GATE WAS NOT TO KEEP THE DOG FROM GETTING TO THE BOYS IT WAS PUT UP TO KEEP THE BOYS OUT OF THE KITCHEN. SO UMPA WENT TO THE GATE SO THE BOYS COULD REACH HER. THE BOYS ARE A BIT OLDER NOW .., NOT ONLY DO THEY PET THE DOGS THEY GET IN BED WITH THEM,CLIMB & LAY ON TOP OF THEM,AND THEY'VE BEEN KNOWN TO PLAY IN THE FOOD & WATER BOWLS A TIME OR TWO.
WITH THAT SAID... PLEASE KNOW I'M NOT SAYING THAT EVERY SHAR PEI IS THIS TRUSTWORTHY. THIS IS WHERE PROPER BREEDING, AND SOCIALIZATION COMES IN .SO PICK YOUR BREEDER WISELY AND THE OUT COME WILL BE MANY YEARS OF GOOD HEALTH,HAPPINESS, & FRIENDSHIP....

Here's what our puppies are doing on a daily basis once he/she gets up on their feet until they get to go home with you!! The puppy in the photo is 4 weeks old and is beginning to learn early social/play skills with humans.....and what better age than a toddler.....both have to be taught to play nice :) Under my close supervision Kaleb and his twin Karson are allowed to play with the puppies each day for short amounts of time.... The boys and puppies LOVE it!! We are firm believers that a happy, well mannered Shar Pei is a socialized one!!

Nope...She's not a Shar Pei. She's our
Miniature Schnauzer that is 13 years young!! I brought her home as a 10 week old puppy. Phoebe is truly the start of "Praygein" that was founded in 1999... Although we no longer breed Schnauzers and our name has changed a bit... (Wrinkles N Skin) was added...One thing will stay the same my love for the "Grandma" dog that Started it all, "Phoebe Glitters" The Miniature Schnauzer... "QUEEN" of the Shar Pei !!

Ash & Rue....Rue (front) more like the TRADITIONAL Shar Pei, meaning she lacks the thick padding of wrinkle on the top of her muzzle. This is NOT saying she is of lesser quality, It just means that she resembles what the ORIGINAL Shar Pei looked like!! And believe it or not, this girl came from "meat mouth" parents, Meaning heavy wrinkled muzzles!!
RUE was born right here in our home, and came from a litter of 5....She was the only traditional type in the litter!! Where she lacks in muzzle she makes up for in heart and soul!! I kept her for myself because I was in love with her from the start!!
When she is standing in the yard she is a sight to see....she is a picture of sleek elegance...
Some breeders wont admit to owning or producing the traditional type Pei....but that's what makes us stand out from the rest....The fact remains this is the look of the breed from the start!! And we personally LOVE them all.
